Adela Smisek, age 100 years, was born on a farm near Swanton, Nebraska to Ed and Valesta (Jelinek) Karl and passed away at the Wilber Care Center on December 8, 2020.  She attended school and graduated from Swanton High School.  After graduation she taught school for one year then moved to Lincoln and worked at the State Capitol.  On February 5, 1947 she was united in marriage to Milo Smisek.   They lived in Texas for a few years returning to Nebraska where they farmed until 1978 then moving into Wilber to make their home.   She spent her last few years in the Wilber Care Center where she had wonderful care.  Adela is survived by her daughter, Dorothy (Fred) Beckhusen and  son, David  (Gail)  Smisek, five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Milo.  To honor her wishes, she will be cremated and private services will be after the current COVID restrictions are removed.   Memorials may be sent to the Swanton Volunteer Fire Department.
