On the afternoon of October 25th, 2016, Agnes (Valenta) Krejdl, age 100, and longtime resident
of Crete, NE passed away. Agnes was being comforted by family members at the time of her
passing.
Agnes is survived by her son Alvin (Karon) Krejdl of Eagle, NE; her son Gary (Terri) Krejdl of Lincoln, NE; her son Wayne (Susan) Krejdl of Elmwood, NE; her daughter Gloria (Larry) Andelt of Dorchester, NE; and her daughter Marline (Jim) Lowe of Bloomington, IL. She is preceded in death by her parents, Rudolph and Bessie Valenta; grandson, Mark Krejdl; great granddaughters, Emilie Andelt & Shelby Exline; brothers, Lumir Valenta & Herman Valenta; 1 infant brother and 2 infant sisters.
Born near Swanton, NE on July 11th, 1916 to Rudolph and Bessie Valenta, Agnes developed a love of the outdoors growing up on the family farm. After graduating from Wilber High school in 1934, Agnes was married in 1937. The couple established residence on a farm west of Wilber, NE. In 1968 Agnes moved to Crete, NE where she held several office positions in various gardening clubs.
Never seeing it necessary to have a car or drivers license, residents of Crete would often see Ms. Krejdl riding her bike through town accomplishing various errands or commuting to her jobs at the Doane College cafeteria and the Ben Franklin store.
Agnes had a passion for the outdoors, especially as a bird watcher and flower lover. She could
tell you the species of bird just by the sound of its song, and her garden flowers were always
impeccably kept as she considered weed pulling a hobby. Ms. Krejdl enjoyed many other
hobbies including crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, reading, and had a collection of over 400
salt and pepper shakers.
An active person with an adventurous spirit, Agnes often looked for new ways to experience things. She often enjoyed boating and took motorcycle rides at age 75. On her 80th birthday she enjoyed a hot air ballon ride. Agnes's zest for life and unique attitude will be missed but never forgotten.
