Alfred Timothy Warta, 62 passed away Tuesday May 31, 2016 peacefully at home after a courageous battle with cancer. Born February 24, 1954 in Lincoln, Ne to Anton and Ernestine Hilda Alma (Baack) Warta. Alfred was baptized at Lincoln General Hospital and was confirmed in 1963 at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Wilber, Ne. He married Deanna Lynn Johnson on October 29, 1988 in Wilber, NE and resided at the family farm where they raised their three children. Alfred graduated from Wilber-Clatonia High School in 1972 and attended the University of Nebraska Lincoln for one year. He worked at Peterson Mfg/American Tool from 1973-2008 in various departments before becoming engineer. Alfred and Deanna became owners of Wil-Bol Lanes in Wilber in February 2008. He enjoyed bowling and being on leagues and teaching his children to bowl. Alfred was a Sokol gymnast. He loved outdoor activities like hunting, camping, fishing, boating, farming, gardening, skiing both water and snow, and trapshooting. He really enjoyed teaching these activities to his children as they were growing up. He loved taking family vacations and going to all his children's events. Spending time with his family is what he loved most. Alfred was a licensed amateur extra ham radio operator his call sign was N0NGD. He was a member of the Crete Amateur Radio Club, DeWitt Gun Club, First Evangelical Lutheran Church. Alfred was awarded the Knights of Blanik for his help over the years with Czech Days, enjoyed celebrating and being a part of Czech Days. Alfred is survived by his wife Deanna of Wilber, Nebraska, sons Anthony and special friend Holli Greitens, Timothy and special friend Kelsie Musil all of Wilber, Nebraska, Daughter Jeana and special friend Jim Strate of Exeter, Nebraska, Sister Adele (Alfred) Teet of Swanton, Nebraska, Brothers Arlen (Anne) Warta of Golden, Colorado, Daniel Warta of Wilber, Nebraska, David (Vicky Shearer) Warta of LaVista, Nebraska. Father-in-law Tom (Norma) Johnson of Crete, Nebraska, Sister-in-laws Sheri (Mark) Ostermeier, Teri (Craig Filipi) Whittington all of Crete, Nebraska, Brother-in-law Russ (Tracy) Johnson of Lincoln, Nebraska. Numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, sister-in-law Diane Warta, and Mother-in-law Carol Johnson. Services are Saturday (6/4/2016) at 1:30 pm, First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Wilber. Viewing beginning Friday, 4:00 pm, Kuncl Funeral Home, Wilber. Family will receive friends from 5 - 8 pm. Interment: Wilber Czech Cemetery. Memorials are in care of the family for future designation.
