Allen J. Pecka, 91, of Wilber, Nebraska, passed away April 21, 2021 at the Tabitha Skilled Care Facility in Crete, Nebraska.  He was born January 25, 1930 to Robert F. and Albie S. (Kubicek) Pecka.  He married Shirley A. Teet on November 12, 1961 in the Swanton Methodist Church in Swanton, Nebraska.  Al attended Bertwell School District #9 through grade 8 and graduated from Wilber Public School with the Class of 1947.  Al grew up on a farm West and North of Wilber. He was a farmer and mechanic and from 1959 – 1964 he worked at the Mobil Gas Station in Wilber.  On June 1, 1965 he opened his own business known as "Al's Repair".  He could work on almost anything with a motor and make it run.  In later years he worked mostly on lawn mowers and small engines until retirement at age 80.  He liked to go pheasant hunting.  He enjoyed country western and Czech music.  His hobbies were gardening, flowers, having a "weed free" lawn and doing some woodworking.  He also enjoyed our many vacation trips, especially to Las Vegas, Hawaii and Washington D.C.  He collected '57 Chevy cars from the Danbury Mint Company.  Al is a member of the  Nebraska Czechs of Wilber and received the Knights of Blanik Award and of course enjoyed Czech Days.  He could speak the Czech language very fluently.  Al is survived by his loving wife, Shirley, of 59 years and Dolly (his miniature dachshund).  Sister in law:  Betty Pecka, nephew:  Gerald Pecka, nieces:  Jeanette Pearson and Donna Whemhoff, Deanna Sand (like a daughter) and her husband Richard Sand, brother in law:  Alfred Teet and his wife Adele.  He was "Grandpa Al" to Justin, Tiffany, Jaxson and Freya Sand; Logan Sand and Ranell Sand.  Nephews:  Tim Busboom, Todd Busboom, Max Busboom, Mark Busboom, Chris Teet, Dan Teet, Bob Teet, Gerry Teet, Randy Teet and Greg Teet.  Also many cousins.  He was preceded in death by his parents, brother:  Robert L. Pecka, in laws:  Clarence and Esther Teet, sister in law:  Alberta Busboom and her husband Eldon, and brother in law:  Albert Teet.  He will be missed by his family and many friends. Services will be held on Saturday, April 24, 2021 at 2:00 P.M. at Kuncl Funeral Home in Wilber.  Visitation will be on Friday from 5 – 8 P.M. at the funeral home.  Masks are encouraged.  In lieu of flowers, memorials are in care of the family for future designation.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Kuncl Funeral Home in Wilber.
