Obituary

Allen Roy “Bucky” Schuerman, 89, of Dewitt, passed away in his home on October 6th, 2026. He was born to Lawrence and Adela (Klostermeier) Schuerman on May 16th, 1937 at his home in DeWitt.

On May 20th, 1956 he married the love of his life, Patty Jane Butterfield of Beatrice, and shared 3 sons.

Bucky was a hardworking man who was never afraid to roll up his sleeves. His strong work ethic was evident in his life. Farming was at the heart of who Bucky was. Over the years, alongside farming, he held a variety of jobs, including construction, welding, working at the window factory, and Petersen’s Vice Grip factory. He was well known throughout the community for his tree-cutting business, where his hard work skill, and willingness to help others, earned him the respect of many.

Alongside his wife, Patty, he was the heart and soul of their family. His presence could fill a room, and there was rarely a quiet moment when Bucky was around. He always had a great story to tell, or a joke to share, that brought many smiles and lots of laughter. His absence will leave a space that cannot be filled, and he will be deeply missed.

Allen is survived by his sons: Bruce Schuerman and Byron (Georgia) Schuerman, six grandchildren: Adella (Tom) Roger, Amy (Sean) Schipporeit, Brad (Jenna) Schuerman, Janelle (Jesse) Vice, Lindsey (Sam) Xayaphonesongkham, and Josh Schuerman. 12 great grandchildren. Sister LaVae’ Schuerman.

He was preceded in death by wife Patty Schuerman, son Boyd Schuerman, granddaughter Jerrica Schuerman, parents Lawrence and Adela Schuerman, siblings: Floyd Schuerman, Verla (Joe) Tyser, Howard Schuerman, Donna (Dale) Rezney.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, October 12, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Kuncl Funeral Home in Wilber. Public visitation will be on Sunday from 1 - 6 PM at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to DeWitt Fire Department, Wilber Fire Department, or Crete Fire Department. Arrangements entrusted to Kuncl Funeral Home in Wilber.
