Alvin S. Vlcek was born on December 25, 1920 to Steve and Matilda (Synovec) Vlcek at his grandparents' home in Gage County, Nebraska. He attended Wilber High School through the 10th grade, after which, he went to the Midwest School of Welding in Omaha where he received a certificate of completion in 1941. Alvin enjoyed hunting during his early years as a child. He also loved welding, which he did for family, friends, and farmers in the community. It seemed once everyone found out that he went to welding school they would all come to him to have him do their welding. He was a life-long farmer. On May 31, 1969, Alvin married Rose Schledewitz at Faith Lutheran Church in Lincoln, Nebraska. The couple enjoyed fishing, camping, traveling, and going on group tours together. For a number of years, Alvin loved going into town and having coffee with a group of buddies. He was a very caring man who had a lot of friends and family. We will all miss him dearly.
Alvin was preceded in death by his parents, wife of 46 years-Rose, and brother-Milo.
He is survived by his nieces, nephews, and cousins, and close friends-Kevin and Tammie Korbelik.
