Anita J. Wood, 89, of Lincoln, Nebraska, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at Bryan West Hospital in Lincoln.  She was born on December 12, 1931 in Detroit, Michigan, to Henry and Hulda Irene (Anderson) Barrett.  She was raised on her maternal grandparents' farm in Albert City Iowa.  Anita attended Iowa State Teachers College and in 1951 married Jack Wood.  They divorced in 1983.  She worked over 25 years for the Lincoln Public Schools, she was also a sorority house mother on the UNL campus and finished  her working career with the State of Nebraska's Health and Human Services Department.  Anita is survived by five of her six children;  Diane (Robert) Elrick, Debra Wood, Susan Wood, Thomas (Kelli) Wood, John Wood, 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by her son, Jeffrey John Wood. A Rosary Service will be held on Monday, January 11, 2021 at 10:00 A.M. at the Cathedral of the Risen Christ in Lincoln with a Memorial Mass following at 10:30 A.M. Her arrangements have been entrusted to Kuncl Funeral Home in Crete.
