Obituary

Anton Warta passed away on March 8, 2016 at the age of 100. Born on November 25, 1915 at the family farm east of Wilber to Edward J. Warta and Anna (Vokoun) Warta. He was baptized and was a confirmed Lutheran. He married Ernestine Baack on September 9, 1948 at Zion Lutheran Church in Macon, Nebraska. To this union five children were born.

Anton farmed east of Wilber, Nebraska and was retired from Petersen Manufacturing Company in DeWitt, Nebraska. He was a veteran of World War II in the 23rd Armored Engineer Battalion Third Armored Division as a radio operator for Division advance forward command post. He was a member of the American Legion Louis Milan Post 101. In Later years he was a HAM radio operator KBOCYK with license Amateur Extra and was past president of the Crete Amateur Radio Club. Anton was a founding member of the Wilber Beseda Dancers. He enjoyed Czech Days, listening & dancing to polka music, watching Molly B and Big Joe polka shows.

Anton loved traveling on family vacations to Alaska, Texas, Missouri, Maine, Wyoming, and
various other places. He enjoyed viewing sandhill cranes and bird watching. He remembered family picnics at the farm with his sister and brothers when all their kids were young. He truly enjoyed
spending time with his kids and grandkids.

Anton was preceded in death by his parents, wife Ernestine (Baack) Warta, sister Ida (Warta)
Bartzatt, brothers Edward and Robert Warta, and daughter-in-law Diane Warta.

Survived by Adele (Alfred) Teet of Swanton, Nebraska, Arlen (Anne) Warta of Golden, Colorado,
Alfred (Deanna) Warta of Wilber, Nebraska, Daniel Warta of Wilber, Nebraska, and David (Vicky
Shearer) Warta of Lavista, Nebraska. 5 grandchildren; Randy (Lisa) Teet, Gregory (Mikayla) Teet
both of Lincoln, Anthony Warta, Timothy Warta, and Jeana Warta of Wilber. 3 great- grandchildren; Gavin and Adeline Teet and Meredith Sheets.

Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM on Saturday, March 12, 2016 at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Wilber, NE. Visitation on Friday will be 1-8 PM with family greeting friends from 5-8 PM at Kuncl Funeral Home, Wilber. Interment: Wilber Czech Cemetery, Wilber.
