April 13, 1941 – December 24, 2018
Arlen Ray Boden, died Monday, December 24, 2018, at his home surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 77 years young, born April 13, 1941 to Ben and Lois (Wells) Boden. He graduated from Crete High School in 1959, and started working at the Crete Mill shortly after graduation. He worked at the Crete Mill for 42 years and also farmed.
Arlen married Emmy (Nejdl) Bruening in 1988. They enjoyed their time together cruising to toy shows, tractor shows, and spending time with family and friends. Arlen also enjoyed his yearly trips with Lester to Husker Harvest Days. He enjoyed collecting Massey Harris tractors and implements, toy cars and tractors. He was also an avid Husker football and volleyball fan.
Arlen is survived by his wife, Emma; children Roxanne (Steve) Burns of Wilber, NE; Guy (Brenda) Boden of Dumont, IA; Scott (Michelle) Boden of Lincoln, NE; Scott (Jamie) Bruening of Huntsville, TX; Michael Bruening of Omaha, NE; and Tracey (Todd) Crome of Breman, KS. Arlen had 19 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Arlen was preceded in death by his parents, brother Howard (James) Boden, grandsons Charles Boden and Brandon Boden.
A Celebration of Arlen's life will be held at 10:30 am Friday, December 28, 2018, at Kuncl Funeral Home, 131 W 12th Street, Crete, NE with Pastor Kathy Rahorst officiating. The family requests casual attire. Burial to follow the Celebration of Life at Riverside Cemetery, Crete, NE. Visitation will be on Thursday from 5 – 7 pm at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to American Cancer Society.
