Arline Libbie (Kubicek) Zajicek passed away July 11, 2018, in Wilber. Arline was born on September 24, 1930, to Libbie (Pomajzl) and Henry O. Kubicek, on the farm that her grandfather homesteaded between Crete and Wilber in the Pleasant Hill Precinct, Saline County. She attended Willow Bend Country School District 10, Crete Public Schools (1947) and Doane College (now Doane University) where she studied math and was a member of the Phi Sigma Tau Sorority. After meeting at a dance at Tabor Hall, Arline married Irvin A. Zajicek on June 3, 1951, at the United Church of Christ in Crete, NE. She worked for over 50 years at Crete State Bank (now Pinnacle Bank) and after retirement worked part-time as a receptionist at the Kuncl Funeral Home. Arline was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed traveling, playing and listening to piano, family genealogy, math puzzles, and having good conversations with family and friends. Arline was an active member in many bridge groups, and enjoyed serving as a volunteer at Grace United Methodist Church and connecting with her friends during Crete High School (1947) class reunions. As family and friends know, Arline had a special appreciation for butterflies.
The family wishes to thank the many loving dedicated workers at the Wilber Care Center and The Bickford of Lincoln who have assisted in caring for Arline over the past 10 years. We are also very grateful for the caring workers with Asera Care Hospice for their recent assistance.
