Barbara Jean "Bobbie" (Smith) Hammon, 95, of Louisville, Nebraska, passed away peacefully on June 23, 2026, in Omaha, Nebraska.

Bobbie was born on October 31, 1930, in Valley, Nebraska, to Phin and Myrtle (Traphagan) Smith. She grew up surrounded by a large family and carried those strong family values throughout her life.

On February 3, 1947, she married the love of her life, Guy James Hammon, Sr., in Marysville, Kansas. Together they shared 68 years of marriage, building a life filled with love, faith, and family. Throughout the years, they made their homes in Lincoln, Nebraska; Washington State; Beaumont, Texas; and Jewell, Kansas. Following Guy's passing, Bobbie returned to Nebraska, where she spent her remaining years and was living in Louisville at the time of her death.

Above all else, Bobbie treasured her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother whose love, kindness, and steady presence touched generations. She enjoyed spending time with those she loved and created countless cherished memories that will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Guy James Hammon, Sr.; her sons, Guy James "Jim" Hammon, Jr., Randy Paul Hammon, and Kevin Scott Hammon; her parents, Phin and Myrtle Smith; her sisters, Virginia Smith, Ruth Truax, Fern Sievert, Bernice Bessey, Betty Frye, Joyce Cantrell, and Maxine Patak; and her brothers, James Smith and Jerry Smith.

She is lovingly survived by her grandchildren, Frances Hammon of Chicago, Illinois; Jason (Julie) Hammon of Boyd, Texas; Jeremiah (Jessica) Hammon of Livingston, Texas; Alison (Josh) Moyer of Bennet, Nebraska; Nate (Ashley) Hammon of Palmyra, Nebraska; and Scott (Kelsey) Hammon of Omaha, Nebraska. She also leaves behind 12 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, including her special niece, Carolyn Lee, whose exceptional love and care brought comfort to Bobbie during her final years, as well as many dear friends and extended family members.

Bobbie will be remembered for her enduring love for her family, her strength, and the kindness she shared with everyone who knew her. Her legacy lives on in the generations she helped shape, and she will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, July 10, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Riverside Cemetery in Crete. Arrangements entrusted to Kuncl Funeral Home in Crete.
