Barbara A. Nigg, 69, of Crete, passed away Tuesday, December 7, 2021, at Bryan Hospital in Lincoln, Nebraska. She was born on September 8, 1952, to Richard and Mona (Scarrow) Schriever in Hampton, Iowa. She was united in married to the one and only love of her life, Richard Nigg, in Hampton, Iowa on December 2, 1967. Born into this marriage as a New Year's baby was one daughter, Robin (Nigg) Allgood.
Barb enjoyed spending time with her family, going to church, cooking, baking, drinking coffee and hot tea, and she had a love for all things football, especially the Nebraska Huskers. Barb adored her husband more than anything, and they had just celebrated their 54 th wedding anniversary on December 2. She was loved by many and had a passion for taking care of others. Barb had a kind heart, a sweet soul, and her love language was making food in her kitchen for her family and friends. She loved attending Grace United Methodist Church and serving on committees. Barb became close with many friends who she met at church throughout the years. She always loved attending the Christmas Eve service every year before returning home to celebrate with her family. Barb worked for the Crete News for a little over the past decade. She loved welcoming and chatting with customers at the counter and baking birthday cakes and sweets for her coworkers over the years.
Preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Mona, her in-laws, Marvin and Verlajean Nigg, her sister and brother-in-law, Evelyn and David Hovenga, her brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Candis Schriever, her sister-in-law Linda Schriever.
Survived by her husband, Richard Nigg, daughter Robin Allgood (Curt), Crete, three grandchildren: Niki (Allgood) and Josh Mata, Bruning, Crystal (Allgood) and Bayron Martinez, Lincoln, and Taylor and Shelby Allgood, Lincoln, eight great grandchildren: Isaiah, Benjamin and Ashlyn Mata, Adrien and Isla Martinez, Jaylan, Jada and Jerzy Allgood, brother Robert Schriever, Bradford, IA, sister-in-law LaDonna Nigg, Crete, brother in-laws Randy Nigg, Peyton, CO, Kim Nigg (Vicki), Des Moines, IA, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held at 10:30am on Friday, December 17, 2021, at Grace United Methodist Church in Crete, Nebraska with Dr. Wayne Reynolds officiating. Interment in the Crete Riverside Cemetery with a luncheon to follow at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family to be designated at a later date.
Arrangements entrusted to Kuncl Funeral Home in Crete.
