Becky L
Dittmer
May 10, 1980 – June 17, 2025
Becky Lee Dittmer, 45, of Crete, Nebraska, passed away peacefully at home on June 17, 2025.
Born on May 10, 1980, in Crete, Becky was a beloved daughter, sister, granddaughter, and aunt. She was the cherished daughter of Terry and Genie Dittmer and a joyful, constant light in the lives of all who knew her.
Becky was born with Cornelia de Lange Syndrome (CdLS), a rare genetic condition that brought significant developmental challenges, including the inability to speak. But Becky never needed words to make herself known. Her expressions, laughter, and presence said everything. She communicated with her eyes, her mischief, her affection—making deep connections and filling the room with her spirit.
She was ornery in the best possible way—playful, surprising, and always ready to stir up a little trouble. Her joy was unmistakable and contagious. When Becky laughed, everyone joined in. She had a gift for bringing levity to the everyday and making people feel uniquely seen and loved.
Since 2001, Becky had been part of Apace (formerly Region V), where she lived in a group home and proudly participated in their workforce program. The structure, friendships, and purpose she found there became an essential part of her life. She was also a faithful member of St. John Lutheran Church in Kramer.
Becky is lovingly survived by her parents, Terry and Genie Dittmer of Crete; her siblings: Staci McMahon and husband Shaun of Gretna (children Camden, Kinsley, and Kendall), Travis Dittmer and wife Patricia of Washington, DC (children Claire and Jon), Mindie Hughes and husband Phil of Crete (daughters Ella and Willa), and Jessie Graff and husband Kelly of Elkhorn (children Morgan and Waylon); her grandmother, Darleen Dittmer; and many extended family members, caregivers, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents Clemens and Ethel Klug, and Elmer Dittmer.
Visitation will be held Thursday, June 19, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Kuncl Funeral Home in Crete. A service celebrating Becky's life will take place Friday, June 20, at 10:30 AM at St. John Lutheran Church in Kramer, followed by a luncheon. The service will be livestreamed and can be accessed via https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7D4dRxr6-GM .
Becky's life was a powerful reminder that communication is more than words, and that joy, love, and resilience can speak volumes. Her legacy will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who knew her.
