Obituary

Carol A. Bors, 84, of Crete passed away March 6, 2016. She was born on March 13, 1931, to Stephen and Emma Pospisil. Carol, her brother Joseph and parents made their home in Swanton, NE. Carol was a bit of "tom boy" as a young girl. She graduated from Swanton High School in 1948 in a class of six and was the valedictorian. Carol then attended Doane College in Crete for one year.

Carol then went to work at Fairmont Foods in Crete where she met Ken. Ken and Carol's first date was a road trip to York to attend a dance and hear a popular band. They were married on September 13, 1953 at the Grace United Methodist Church in Crete. Ken and Carol were the parents to two children—Steve born in 1957 and Kris born in 1960. They lived the majority of their marriage in their home on Jasmine Road in Crete. Ken and Carol celebrated their 62nd year of marriage in 2015.

Carol was primarily a wife and mother, but she also held part-time jobs over the years at O'Brien-McDowell Company and Wanek's of Crete.

Carol was an excellent cook and entertainer who loved her family and enjoyed time with her friends. In her younger years she was active at College Heights Country Club and she played in numerous bridge clubs for many, many years.

Carol was a member of the Crete Municipal Hospital Auxiliary, Crete Hospital Foundation, College Heights Country Club board of directors, Grace UMC and numerous bridge clubs.

Survivors include husband, Ken of Crete; son, Steve (Rhonda) Bors of Lincoln; grandchildren, Eric Bors of Lincoln, Kailyn Bors of Lincoln, Kiana Pagan of Newark, Calif.; brother-in-law, Wayne (Carol) West of Grand Island. Preceded in death by parents; daughter and son-in-law Kris Bors Pagan and Peter Pagan; brother, Col. Joseph (Anita) Pospisil; nephew, Stephen Pospisil.

Memorial service at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 10, at Grace United Methodist Church, Crete. Rev. Dr. Wayne Reynolds will officiate. Memorials to the family for future designation. Graveside service will be at 2 p.m., on Thursday at Riverside Cemetery, Crete. Condolences at kunclfh.com.
