Carol Jean (VanOstrand) McCay, age 81 years, 5 months and 7 days of Clatonia, Nebraska, a loving wife, mother and grandmother took God's hand and joined her Heavenly Father on July 19, 2018 after a valiant battle with cancer. Carol was born on February 12, 1937 in York, Nebraska to Gale and Erma (Kimball) VanOstrand.

Carol is survived by her husband, Raymond McCay of Clatonia, Nebraska, her son and daughter-in-law, Carl and Dede Mau of Lincoln, Nebraska, her granddaughter, Brooklyn Ann Young of Lincoln, Nebraska, step children, Lynne Peterson of Shelburne, New Hampshire, Michele Mulske of Linton, North Dakota, Kevin McCay of Bismarck, North Dakota, step grandchildren, Anthony Mulske and Todd Mulske Jr. of Linton, North Dakota, Jessica Mulske-Tonnessen of Towner, North Dakota, brother-in-law, Ben McCay of Pierce, Colorado, sister-in-law, Lorraine Berg of Mandan, North Dakota and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and a countless number of friends.

Carol is preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Richard VanOstrand and Don VanOstrand.

There will be no viewing as it was Carol's wish to be cremated. Graveside services will be held at the Clatonia Cemetery in Clatonia, Nebraska on Saturday, August 4, 2018 at 10:30 A.M. At the request of Carol's granddaughter, Brooklyn, anyone attending the service is asked to wear brightly colored clothing as this will be a celebration of Carol's life and to fulfill an agreement between a grandma and her granddaughter that was made many years ago.
