Carole Sue (Smith) Quick, age 88, passed away on July 10, 2022, with family at her side. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who always had her family's happiness in the forefront. She was born on August 15, 1933, in Boelus, NE to Earl C. and Marie B Smith. She attended school in Grand Island, NE until her senior year of high school when she moved to Columbus, NE. She was a decorated majorette at Kramer High School and graduated in 1951. It was there where she met the love of her life, Robert E Quick.
Carole's professional career began as a deputy county clerk. She continued to do clerical and bookkeeping work to support her late husband during medical school in Omaha, NE. Bob and Carole were married in 1953, following Air Force travel assignments in Texas and New York, while starting a family, they settled in Crete, NE. She was instrumental in creating her late husband's successful medical practice and managed office and accounting duties for decades. She was active in the Hospital Auxiliary.
Carole enjoyed gardening, crossword puzzles, crypto quotes and monthly bridge club gatherings where she created life-long friendships. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family, watching them grow, celebrating their accomplishments and being surrounded by their love and support.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Eugene Quick; her parents, Marie B. Smith and Earl C. Smith; her sisters, Lucille Tritle and Jeanne Wilcox.
She is survived by her children: Bob (Lori) Quick of Shalimar, FL, Cheri (George) Arnold of Overland Park, KS, Susie (Terry) Campbell of Livermore, CO and Sandy (Tony) Fitzgerald of Crete, NE; grandchildren: Leah (Jordan) Smith, David (Hannah) Colmer, Laura Williams, Emma Arnold, Erin (Kenny) Brown, Matt (Lacey) Arnold, Bryce Bradley (Yudi Gonzalez), Taylor Bradley, Brian Campbell, Aiden Campbell, Ian Campbell, Anthony Fitzgerald, Bailey Fitzgerald and Kayla Fitzgerald and 12 great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials are in care of the family for future designation.
