Charles "Cud" Frank Mundil, 87, of Wilber passed away on September 1, 2016. He was born March 11, 1929 in Wilber, NE to Joseph & Agnes (Maryska) Mundil.
Cud grew up in Wilber where he attended and graduated from Wilber Public Schools. While in high school he participated in boy's basketball where he excelled holding many school records during his high school years. He served in the United States Navy from January 16, 1952 to December 5, 1953, returning to Wilber to make his home. Charles was united in marriage to Janice Buhr on June 30, 1957 at the Lutheran Church in DeWitt, Nebraska.
Cud worked for many years for Crete-Wilber Freight Lines and later was employed for the City of Wilber from where he retired. He loved any Nebraska sports, enjoyed coffee with friends and enjoyed his Pabst Blue Ribbon Beer and daily rode his bike for exercise and to keep physically fit. He was considered as having a "green thumb", growing many varieties of flowers and raising a garden, sharing the crops with his family and friends. He was well known to many for his well-manicured lawn and shared advice and tips for others to have and succeed for theirs as well.
Charles is preceded in death by his parents; Joe and Agnes Mundil, wife; Janice on February 2, 2007, brother; Edward "E.J." Mundil and sister; Betty Jack.
He is survived by his sister in law; Chloe Mundil, niece; Kathy (Lumir) Tachovsky, nephews; Dale and Wayne Jack, great nephew; Mark (Bev) Tachovsky and their children, Derek and Alexias, great nieces; Kris Filipi and special friend Darren and her son Justin Filipi, Amy Morris and special friend (Dave) and her children, Emma, Fletcher and Ruby, brother in law; Dick Jack.
Visitation is on Wednesday from 5 - 8 pm. Funeral services will be, 10:30 AM, Thursday, September 8, 2016 from Kuncl Funeral Home in Wilber. Pastor Travis Panning officiating. Interment at Wilber Czech Cemetery. Memorials to family in lieu of flowers for future designation.
