Obituary

Clara Nell Witter, 99, of Crete, Nebraska, passed away May 28, 2019. She was born on January 20, 1920 in Friend, Nebraska to John and Nellie (Banka) Eurich. Clara attended a one room rural school house. She later graduated from Friend High School. Clara met Guy Ted Witter while roller skating. They married June 1940. They had been married 46 years when Ted passed away in February 1986. Three children were born from this marriage: Theo (Witter) Muff, Doris (Witter) Foster and Boyd Witter. Family was very important to Clara. Her greatest joy was being with her children and grandchildren. She was the 8th of twelve children. Clara is the last survivor of the twelve. She has numerous nieces and nephews and enjoyed keeping in touch with them. Clara worked at a variety of jobs throughout her life. She helped her husband, Ted, at the newspaper office, taught school, worked at the bakery, cleaned and worked at Formfit in Crete. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and crafts. She made each of her grandchildren an afghan. Church was very important to Clara. She was a member of Grace Methodist Church for over 60 years. She taught Sunday school, sang in the choir and belonged to UMW. Clara and Ted loved square dancing. They even went to a couple of national square dance conventions. Clara will truly be missed by all of her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, 11 siblings, husband: Ted, children: Theo and Gene Muff, Sr. and Boyd Witter. Survivors include her daughter and son in law: Doris and Don Foster, daughter in law: Pam Witter, grandchildren and spouses: Joanne and Paul Puckett, Diane and Bill Wieskamp, Judy and Sheldon Kohout, Andy Muff and Beverly, Beth and Doug Horak, Helen and Scott Holroyd, Gene Jr. and Krissy Muff, Allison Long, Denise and Scott Herndon, Marcus and Emily Witter, Benjamin and Lindsay Witter, Patricia Witter and Jason, 26 great grandchildren, 11 great great grandchildren. Services: Saturday, 10:30 AM, Kuncl Funeral Home, Crete. Visitation: Friday, 4 – 7 PM, funeral home.  Kuncl Funeral Home in Crete is handling arrangements.
