Clarence A. Mohatt, a man of boundless curiosity and infinite kindness, passed away on August 22, 2026, at the age of 67, of natural causes. He and his twin sister were born on October 21, 1958, in the humble town of Hutchinson, Kansas, Clarence was the cherished son of Lawrence and Phyllis (Watkins) Mohatt. He was predeceased by his parents, his beloved brother Jayson, and his nephew Daniel Finney.

Clarence's journey through life was marked by his dedication to family and the unyielding friendships he forged along the way. His life was a tapestry woven with love, laughter, and the joyful noise of good music. A graduate of high school in 1976, Clarence pursued his passion for craftsmanship at the Salina Area Vo-Tech, where he earned a Certificate in Welding. His career took him on many roads, literally, as he spent years driving trucks alongside his brother and sister-in-law Victoria. Later, he dedicated over 20 years of his life as a skilled machinist at Great Plains, where his work ethic and precision were admired by all who had the privilege of working with him.

Clarence's personal life was rich with love and family. He first married Sherry Essick, and together they were blessed with a son, Matthew. After their paths diverged, Clarence's heart expanded when he married Natahlie, gaining another son, Andrew. In his final marriage to Debi Martinez, Clarence embraced her daughters, Cassandra and Miranda, with open arms and an abundance of love.

His surviving family includes his son Matthew and wife Brandi, his bonus son Andrew, his spouse Debi, and her daughters Cassondra and Miranda. He is also survived by his sister Chris and brother-in-law Dwight Finney, sister-in-law Starr, his nieces and nephews, Minnie Leininger (Ryan Nelson), John Finney (Kim), Dwight Finney (Sonya), Andrea Jordan (Brian), Amanda Solt (Jacob), Eva Farrukh (Ayinde), Esther Finney (Blake Mills), Joshua Mohatt (Rachael) and Max Mohatt, dearest friends Sam and Kristen Cell, Dennis and Vicky Flores, many great nieces and nephews and his cherished bonus granddaughter, Vashti. Though Clarence had no biological grandchildren, his heart was full with the presence of those he loved.

A man of many interests, Clarence found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He was a lover of camping, a connoisseur of music, and a craftsman who always seemed to have the right tools and a can-do attitude. His membership in the Walnut Valley Music Festival reflected his love for community, the arts and a good Bloody Mary bar. Renowned for his storytelling prowess, Clarence had a unique ability to bring smiles to faces and warmth to hearts with his tales and humor. His generosity knew no bounds, always willing to lend a hand or share a moment with those he cherished.

A Celebration of Clarence's Life has been planned for September 26, 2026, at 2:00 PM in Salina KS. The family warmly invites all who knew him to attend in casual attire, as Clarence would have wanted. In lieu of flowers, they ask that donations be made to a charity of your choice, honoring Clarence’s generous spirit and love for helping others.
