Dale Allen Niday of Western, NE passed away at his home on February 15, 2018 surrounded by his wife, children, and grand children. He was born on May 16, 1933 at Union, NE to Albert Earl and Violet Hazel (Porter) Niday.
He attended school at Beatrice High School and graduated in 1950. He entered the United States Navy after graduation and served in the Korean War as a machine gunnery.
He married Marian Mae Wasserman on January1, 1954 in Wymore, NE and to this union 6 children were born, Rebecca of Beatrice: Kirk of Lafayette, LA: Kevin(Brenda) of Las Vegas,NV: Jeffery(Brenda) of Sand Springs, OK: Anthony(Marsha) of Fremont, NE and Crystal and partner(Jake) of Barneston, NE.
He was a proud grandpa of 8 grandchildre: Tracy, Tyler(Megan), Marissa(Eric), Nicholas, Donald, Jacob, Kolin(Jean Marie), Konnor. Also 3 great grand children; Mandi, Jason and Emelina. Step grand children: Sandy, John and step great grand children.
Dale married Barbara Waterman in1973 inBeatrice, NE. He worked for Natural Gas Pipeline of America as a Corrosion Technician for 32 years. After taking early retirement, he moved to Wymore,NE and opened Niday's Gun Shop. Years later he moved to Western, NE where he resided for 25 years.
He enjoyed attending his children's football and basketball games at Peru State and Kearney State College. Anything sports related, he would watch on TV. He also enjoyed his Black Labradors and hunting and fishing with the grand children.
He is preceded in death by his mother and father, his brother-inlaws Carl Chelf and Charles Homolka, his inlaws Elmer and Myrna Waterman, his grandson Keaton Niday, his great grand son Kameron Niday and step grandson Donnie McDaniels, also brother-in law Les Rathjen.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara, children, grand children, step grandchildren, step great grandchildren, sister-in law Diane Rathjen and her children Michelle, Anita and Kevin,first wife Marian, sisters: Judy Homolka of Western,Ne ; Linda Tannahill(Curtis) of Fairfield Glade, TN; Earlene Chelf of Bowling Green, KY; Dee Swartz(Eugene) of Wahoo and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Western American Legion Club and Tabitha Hospice.
A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, February 21st, at 10:00 a.m. at Kuncl Funeral Home in Wilber, NE. No visitation. Kuncl Funeral Home in Wilber is handling arrangements.
