Dale Edward Spinar, 76, passed away peacefully in Lincoln, Nebraska, where he had lived since he began his studies at the University of Nebraska. He was born in Lincoln but lived in Crete until he started at the University of Nebraska.

Dale graduated from Wilber High School with top honors as the first in his class. His parents recognized his interest in learning from the time he was a young child on their Crete farm and encouraged him to pursue his interests in mechanics and electronics. At the age of 14, he overhauled and repaired a tractor while his father, Edward Spinar, was out of town playing in his Czech band. He built radios and other electrical appliances as well as a television from scratch. He seemed to have an innate ability to know how to create anything mechanical or electrical. While at home he also followed his father's interest in music and played the piano.

Dale continued to excel in school while at the University of Nebraska. He was in the top 10 of the students graduating with a BS in electrical engineering. He became friends with a French student while at the University and eventually added French to the Czech and English languages he spoke fluently.

Dale's passion was reading historical novels, but he kept his mind active by working on calculus problems. Dale's academic strength in so many disciplines is to be admired.

He is survived by his cousins Virginia Spinar White, Donald Spinar, and James Prokop.

He is preceded in death by his father, Edward Frank Spinar, and his mother, Ida Gladys Prokop Spinar.

Funeral Service will be held Friday February 25, 2022 at 10:00a.m. at Kuncl Funeral Home in Crete, NE.  Memorials should be sent to Wilber High School in Dale's honor.  Arrangements entrusted to Kuncl Funeral Home in Crete.
