Daniel Patrick Murphy, 69, of Crete passed away Thursday, July 15, 2021 at Tabitha in Crete.  He was born in Lincoln on February 3rd 1952 to Wayne and Elizabeth Murphy.  Dan was a graduate of Lincoln Southeast High School. Dan worked for NPPD for 47 years, during his employment there he held many positions, he had recently retired in 2020.  Dan was a loving husband and wonderful father, family was his everything.  Most people that knew Dan, knew him as man of few words but a great sense of humor and was often described as a gentle giant. He is survived by his wife, Kayleen; sons, Sean Murphy (Ashley) of Lincoln, Scott Murphy (Jacque) of North Platte; brother, Tom Murphy (Paulette) of Lincoln; sister, Mary Abel (Jim) of Lincoln, and countless other family and friends.  He is preceded in death by his parents Wayne and Elizabeth (Betty) Murphy. Visitation will be on Monday, July 19th from 5 - 8 at Kuncl Funeral Home, 131 W. 12th St in Crete.  Services will be on Tuesday, July 20th at 1:00 PM at St. Johns Lutheran Church, 11400 W. Panama Rd.
