Darlene Schweer, 94, of Daykin, Nebraska, passed away on July 24, 2021 in Lincoln.  She was born on September 3, 1926, the twelfth child of Emma and Ben Marschman.  She was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church in Daykin.  Darlene married Melvin H. Schweer on March 21, 1948 at St. John's Lutheran Church.  They were lifetime members of the church.  She also taught Sunday school and was a member of the Ladies Bible Study.

After they were married, they lived on a farm 2 miles north of Daykin.  After Carol went to school, Darlene went to work at the Jefferson County Bank for over 25 years.  She retired in 1988 after Melvin's death.  In 1989, she sold the farm and moved to Daykin where she lived until her death.

Darlene is preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Schweer and 11 of her siblings.

Darlene was a wonderful cook.  Many folks in Daykin enjoyed her cinnamon rolls, pies and cookies.  We would often comment at recent holiday gatherings when she was no longer doing the cooking that the food just wasn't as good.

Survivors include her son Mark (Jan) Schweer of Omaha, Nebraska, her daughter Carol (David) Sims of Crete, Nebraska, 6 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and sister Eleanor Schwan of Dewitt, Nebraska.

Services will be held on Monday, August 2, 2021 at 2:00 P.M. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Daykin.  Visitation will be on Sunday from 2 – 4 P.M. at Kuncl Funeral Home in Crete.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Kuncl Funeral Home in Crete.
