Darlene Margye Synovec, 80, passed away peacefully December 30, 2024, at the Wilber Care Center. She was born at home (the 2nd of four children) on December 23, 1944, to Ernest J. and Mary M. (Sokolik) Synovec. Darlene was a lifelong resident of the Wilber-Crete area. She attended grade school at District 93 and graduated from Wilber High School in 1964.

After high school, Darlene worked at Formfit-Rogers in Crete until the factory closed in 1982. She was then employed at the Wilber Care Center until she could no longer work due to health problems. She lived in Crete for several years after retirement. Darlene enjoyed participating in numerous activities at the care center. She always particularly enjoyed visits from children.

Survivors include brother Rogerlan (Jane) of O'Fallon, Missouri, and sister Marella (Don) Meadows of Powder Springs, Georgia; nieces and nephews Rob (Frankie) Synovec of Chesterfield, Missouri, Sarah (Ryan) Hagen of St. Charles, Missouri, Duncan (Whitney) Meadows of Marietta, Georgia, Nicole (Brian) Smith of Martinez, Georgia, and John Synovec of Lincoln; grandnephews Jasper and Silas Meadows of Marietta, Georgia, and Andrew Synovec of Chesterfield, Missouri; grandnieces Tayleigh and Katlyn; and several cousins. Darlene was preceded in death by her grandparents Robert J. and Hattie Synovec, parents, and brother and sister-in-law Maylon and Naomi Synovec.

Services will be held on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at 10:30 AM at Kuncl Funeral Home in Wilber. Visitation will be held on Monday from 5–7 PM at the funeral home.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff of the Wilber Care Center and Cottonwood Hospice.
