David T.
Houser
April 17, 1957 – May 26, 2021
David Thomas Houser was born in Crete, NE on April 17, 1957 to Tommy N. and Mavis D. (Svarc) Houser. He passed away on May 26, 2021 at the age of 64. David grew up on the family farm west of Wilber and lived there the majority of his life till his death. As a child David attended rural country school for a few years, then graduated from Wilber-Clatonia in 1975. After high school he spent his life farming on the family farm. He was united in marriage to Susan Marie Fuchs on April 14, 1978 and to this union 2 children a son Michael and a daughter Mindy were born.
David was an active member of the Sons of American Legion, Wilber Cemetery Board, Wilber Gun Club, and the Wilber Coyote Hunters. David spent many years hunting, shooting trap, bowling, playing pool, and participating in Wednesday card night with the guys. David was the coach of the 5 Clovers Trap Team during the years his children shot trap. He was also a Wilber-Clatonia School Board Member throughout the years his children were in school. He was President of the School Board for several years. He loved to cook and cooked at the Legion steak night for several years, BLT night at the Gun Club, as well as helped cook for other organizations around town as needed. He cooked at the Wilber-Clatonia School hamburger cookout every year so he could spend time with his grandchildren. One of his favorite pastimes was taking the grandchildren for rides in the tractor and even teaching them to drive tractors at a young age. David loved John Deere tractors and bought his grandchildren every John Deere toy he could find. Anytime he saw his grandchildren he always had a pocket full of candy to spoil them. David always planted a large garden and a small field of sweet corn that he loved to give out to friends and family. On Czech Days you could always find David bartending or checking ID's at the door of one of the local bars. In the last couple years he found the love of his life, his dog Madeline. He took Madeline everywhere with him, to play cards, to cook and even sometimes to the bar. David loved to watch Husker football games and attended games and tailgated on several occasions. He also loved watching NASCAR races and went to several races. But one of David's most favorite pastimes was having a beer with friends.
David is survived by his son Michael and special friend Melissa Carper, Daughter Mindy and husband Dustin Burns all of Wilber. Three grandchildren Camden and Brooklyn Houser and Brynlee Burns. Two step-grandsons Holden and Preston Lee. Sisters Diane Wanek and Doris Koll along with their families.
