David L.
Petsche
March 12, 1945 – October 30, 2020
David Lee Petsche, the oldest son to Leander and Rosella (Werner) Petsche, was born on March 12, 1945 at home near Petersburg, NE. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church in Raeville, NE. He attended high school at St. John's Catholic School in Petersburg, NE until joining the U.S. Army. David went to boot camp at Lawton, OK and was stationed in Germany until being honorable discharged. He returned to Petersburg, NE and worked at the elevator in Elgin. On August 26, 1967, David married Luana Kunz at the Cathedral of the Risen Christ in Lincoln, NE. They made their forever home in Denton, NE where they were blessed with two children: Valerie and John. Dave was a wonderful provider for his family, working at Gooch Mills/ADM as a Flour Miller for 38 years until his retirement. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Denton, NE. He volunteered on the Southwest Rescue and Fire Department for almost 20 years. He was an active member of the Denton Legion Post #355 for over 50 years. He was also a member of DCHS (Denton Community Historical Society). He enjoyed doing yard work and working on the north farm, which he and Luana purchased from grandpa and grandma Kunz. Luckily, David had his grandchildren young so he was able to spend a lot of time with them teaching them how to properly mow, cut trees, fix fence, help neighbors and work on staying busy. His legacy will continue on in the strong work ethic instilled in each of his grandchildren. When David was nearly 70, he received the devastating diagnosis of PSP (Progressive Supranuclear Palsy), a brain disease that eventually debilitates his body and movement. He died on October 30, 2020 at home, next to his loving wife of 53 years. David is survived by his wife: Luana of Denton; children: Valerie Andersen (Kent Zoz) of Lincoln, NE and John (Tonya) of Denton, NE. Grandchildren: Ashlee (Mike) Zweifel of Eagle River, AK, Johnny (Lisa) Andersen of Crystal Lake, IL, Kirk Andersen of Lincoln, NE, Mikayla Petsche of Sioux Falls, SD, Ashley Douthit of Staplehurst, NE, Dezarae and Austin Douthit of Seward, NE.
