Attended country schools at Fairview District 57 and Pleasant Prairie District 64, where he graduated from the 8th grade, both schools were South of Friend in Saline County Nebraska. After graduating 8th grade his family moved East of Milligan, where he graduated in 1957 from Milligan High School. After graduation Delbert worked for Biba Road Construction in Geneva and helped his father with farming in between.
On April 25, 1963 he was drafted into the Army and attended basic training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. Upon his fathers' death, Delbert was honorably discharged on May 27, 1963, where he came back home to take over farming the family farm.
January 22 of 1966 he married Carol L. Shestak at Dorchester Methodist Church, of this union three children were born, Delbert W Duba Jr., Lynne Rae Rivera-Duba, and Albert Lee Duba.
Delbert spent his lifetime farming, raising cattle and hogs. He made many trips to the Omaha Stock Yards and later to the Norfolk Sale Barn to sell his livestock, usually topping the market.
Maintaining a very busy life, Delbert never spent a moment in idleness. He was an active member of the Saline Center Lodge 389, and enjoyed going to sale barns and rodeos, (he even rode in them when he was younger). His last years were enjoying the time he spent with his grandson Jesse, dancing to Polka music and making up their own games that they played. In October 2015 Delbert enjoyed his last Harvest, riding in the combine beside his son Albert and daughter Lynne.
