Dennis D. Kattau, age 63 was born on March 29, 1959 to Dewayne F. and Olga F. (Vetrovsky) Kattau in Crete, Nebraska and passed away on January 2, 2023 in Lincoln, Nebraska.
He grew up in the Kramer area and attended St. John Parochial School and graduated from Crete High School in 1977. Upon graduating he started farming and also worked for Wanek's Furniture Store in the delivery department and later for Jay's Oil driving tanker trucks. For almost 25 years he was employed for Lancaster County as a heavy equipment operator from which he retired.
Dennis farmed throughout his life. He enjoyed hunting, playing Fuchs and having a beer with his friends and was known to have a good sense of humor. He was very involved with the Kramer Community Hall and was always willing to help his family and many friends. He was a lifelong member of St. John Lutheran Church in Kramer.
He was preceded in death by his father, grandparents: Henry and Albie Vetrovsky, Fred and Katie Kattau and aunts and uncles.
He is survived by his mother Olga and step father Fred Weidner, siblings: Denise and Frank Slama, Debra and Tom Ourada, and Doug Kattau. Nieces and nephews: Vicky Slama, Charles and Codi Slama, Eric and Blythe Dewey, Jackie Ourada, Jace Ourada, Madison Kattau and many great nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends.
Services: Thursday, 10:30 AM on January 5, 2023 at St. John Lutheran Church in Kramer, Nebraska, with burial at the church cemetery (casual attired is requested). Viewing: Wednesday, 5 – 8 PM at Kuncl Funeral Home in Crete (family will not be present). In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to St. John Lutheran Church or Kramer Community Hall. Arrangements entrusted to Kuncl Funeral Home, Crete, Nebraska.
