Obituary

Dillon James Samples, formerly of Wilber, Nebraska passed away at his home in Colorado Springs, Colorado Wednesday, March 29th, 2017 at the age of 29. He was the first born child of James and Andrea (Pomajzl) Samples. Dillon was baptized November 22, 1987 at Saint John's Lutheran Church in Kramer, Nebraska. It was there where he later received his 5 year perfect attendance award for Sunday school and church service and in 2007 was also confirmed and became an adult member. Dillon attended country school at Olive Branch District 158 near Hallam for many years and graduated from Crete High School in 2006. Dillon completed his associate's degree in computer science in 2014 from Southeast Community College in Lincoln, Nebraska and was currently enrolled at Pikes Peak Community College in Colorado Springs, Colorado where he was working towards his bachelor's degree. He was always a very bright student and his ability to speed read impressed every educator. The combination of his desire to learn and great personality made him a well-loved student. Dillon had a lifelong love for computers starting in his early elementary school years where his sisters Brandee and Brooke fondly remember their teacher, Nancy Bess, using him as her personal Tech Guy. This passion later grew into several business ventures with his lifetime best friend, David "DC" Chlupacek. Building and hosting websites like your90s.com are just a couple of the countless projects they would dedicate sleepless nights to. They were thankful for the NOS energy drinks that allowed them to put in so many hours towards these projects even through the endless (playful) bickering. When Dillon wasn't spending his time working with computers he enjoyed hiking with his faithful dog Zuri. If you saw Dillon you could always count on Zuri being by his side, Zuri loved her long car rides and many trips back home to Nebraska with him. He loved spending time with his family, they all fondly look back on how he made every moment more enjoyable and a laughable memory. Dillon always maintained an amazing relationship with his family even from a state away. He kept in constant contact with them, making sure to call them by his favorite name he would come up with, he shared a truly great bond with his grandmother pegged 'Grandma Sue' and thoroughly enjoyed her well stocked cupboards and fridge whenever he visited. He had countless friends yet considered his sisters to be among the best of them all. Dillon will be best remembered for his killer smile, amazing personality, deep thinking, quick wit, and silly phrase making. Dillon had a way with bringing comfort to people, as a published poet, his mother remembers him even at a tender age giving great advice and insight far beyond his years. She spent many days praying for all her children, and always delighted with each call he made to tell her those prayers had been answered, restoring his faith with each blessing she prayed over. As a passionate hunter his father is thankful and takes pride in having taught Dillon gun safety while hunting and fostered his love for fishing, camping and the great outdoors. He is survived by his mother Andrea Pomajzl and her boyfriend Brad Christian, father James Samples, sisters Brandee Samples and her boyfriend Jesse Cassel, Brooke Samples and her boyfriend Brett McArthur and their daughter Evelyn, and sister Leahh Anderson, grandparents Larry and Linda Pomajzl, girlfriend, uncles Gene Samples, Brad Pomajzl and wife Nicole, Gary Samples and wife Linda, Kevin Samples and wife Nancy, Ed Samples, Jerry Samples and wife Shirley, Bob Sell, Arlin Pomajzl and wife Leslie, aunts Chris Lane and husband David, Carin Jelinek, Candy Jones and husband Tom, Cheryl Bice, Cindy Zajicek and husband Allen, Jeanne Pomajzl Sell, great aunts Norma Richards and friend Warren Williams, Kay Ramsey and husband Bert, and many many cousins.
