Donald E. Nerud, 84, Crete, died January 9, 2018 in Wilber. Don was born in rural Saline County on June 1st, 1933 to Edward B. & Libbie (Horky) Nerud. He graduated from Crete High School in 1951. He served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955 part of which was serving overseas in Korea.

He married Jeanette Gyhra on January 25th, 1958. They resided on a farm south of Friend and then Pleasant Hill before moving South of Crete in 1968. Don was a lifelong farmer. He was a member of the Pleasant Dale American Legion Post 354. He loved raising livestock, playing cards and his grandkids.

Don is preceded in death by his parents and son John. Survived by wife Jeanette of Crete, sons Tom Nerud of Dorchester, Randy (Lisa) Nerud of Lincoln, Sisters, Darlene Gerner of Milford and Betty Griess of Cheyenne, Grandchildren Jeremy (Bonnie) Nerud, Joe Nerud, Rachel (Tyler) Moormeier, Jake (Tara) Nerud, Seth Nerud, Libbie Nerud, Nixon Nerud, Cade Nerud and Levi Nerud. Also, three great grandchildren Thor, Sawyer and Fordham.

Funeral Mass: Saturday, 10:30 AM, Sacred Heart Church, Crete. Rosary: Friday, 6:30 PM, Kuncl Funeral Home, Crete with visitation beginning at 5 PM. Memorials in care of the family for future designation.
