Dorothy LuEtta "Lu" Patton, 92, departed this earthly life on May 3, 2019.  She was born March 6, 1927 in rural Hiawatha, NE (Dundy County).  She married Roy Patton on November 9, 1944. To this union 3 children were born:  James, Dorothy, and Glen.  They settled in Hallam, NE in 1960.  Lu was an active member of the UCC church and American Legion Auxiliary. She was also a member of the UCC Sewing Circle.  She had various jobs, working at the small grocery store in Hallam and cleaning houses. She then went to a full-time position at Doane College from 1984 until she retired. Lu was a wife & mother. No one was just someone.  Anyone she met became a part of her family. Friends and neighbors became a part of her family too.  Lu moved to Crete in 2004 after the Hallam tornado and lived in Crete until the time of her death.  She was preceded in death by her husband Roy, son James, brothers: Leslie and Orval Johnson,  sisters: Hazel Johnson, Leta Warren, and Melba Loker and great great grandson Kase Korbel.  She is survived by her daughter Dorothy, son-in-law Tom Messman, son Glen and daughter-in-law Rita Patton, daughter-in-law Carol Patton, eight grandchildren: Tim (Lisa) Messman, Todd (Heather) Messman, Brenda (Randy) Williams, Bradley (Amanda) Patton, Chadd (Lori) Patton, Christal (Peter) White, Samantha (Kerry Carney) Prokop, Jessica (Trent) Brown, many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.  God daughter Roxanne( Dewey) Biscof, nieces and nephews and many many friends. Special friends:  Sara Geistlinger & Lollie Teal. Celebration of Life is Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at 10:30 am at the Hallam UCC Church. Interment: Hallam Cemetery.  Memorials in lieu of flowers are suggested to the Hallam UCC Church or Hallam Legion Auxiliary. Arrangements entrusted to Kuncl Funeral Home in Crete.
