Dorothy Louise Freiheit Rowe 94 of Crete, Nebraska went to her heavenly home on October 21, 2025, surrounded by family.
She was born July 29, 1931, to Walter and Leona (Hintze) Freiheit in Spring Valley, Minnesota. Dorothy was baptized and confirmed at St Martin's Lutheran Church in rural Spring Valley, MN.
She attended Free Soil Country School, Wykoff Junior High, and High School in Wykoff, Minnesota.
Dorothy was united in marriage to Alvin Rowe on August 20, 1949. The couple had three children. Teresa Hunt of Denton, Harlan Rowe previously of San Francisco, and Beverly (Marvin) Sasek of Wilber. Dorothy had 5 grandkids and 18 Great Grandkids.
Dorothy, Alvin, and their children lived in rural Preston, MN, then moving to Minneapolis and later to Lincoln before relocating to Crete in 1963.
Dorothy was employed at Formfit Rogers in Crete for several years. Later she worked for Farmland Foods before retiring in 1993.
She was a past member of the Eagles Club and also a member of the Post 4959 VFW Auxiliary, receiving her 50-year pin in 2024. Her involvement in the Crete community also included volunteering with Meals on Wheels for several years.
Her hobbies included stitchery, quilting, and jigsaw puzzles. Dorothy was helping her daughters on sewing projects, even in the last weeks -- both ripping out what wasn't done quite right to offering suggests on the proper stitches to use for a project.
Preceding Dorothy in death were her parents, Walter and Leona Freiheit, Sisters Margaret Rowe and Myrna Rowe, husband Alvin Rowe, son Harlan Rowe, brothers-in-law Kenneth, Ernest, and Art Rowe, Sisters-in-law Dora Wood, Bernice Rowe, Myrtle Rowe and Maxine Rowe, sons-in-law R.D. Warne and Wayne Hunt.
Dorothy was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Crete, remaining connected virtually while at Tabitha in Crete.
Services will be held on Monday, October 27, 2025, at 10:30 AM at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Crete. Visitation is Sunday from 1 - 3 PM at Kuncl Funeral Home in Crete. Memorials have been designated to Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Crete or to Capital Humane Society in Lincoln. Arrangements entrusted to Kuncl Funeral Home in Crete.
