Douglas A. Mares, 62, of Wilber passed away peacefully on February 11, 2019 in his home after losing his almost 3 year battle with cancer. He was born February 15, 1956 in Crete Nebraska to Joseph and Velma (Rahe) Mares. He enjoyed riding his Harley, restoring & building classic cars, and working on vehicles. He was a loving and caring Father and a great friend to many. He was a proud Grandpa and enjoyed spending as much time with his four grandchildren as he could. He is survived by his daughter; Corinne, her husband Jeremiah, and their four children Tayla, Brandt, Draxton, and Laykin; Daughter Abbie; Special Friend Deb Peavler and her daughters Kodee and Taylor; Brothers Lynn and Delmar; Sister RaNae. He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Velma (Rahe) Mares. Services will be held on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at 2:00pm at Kuncl Funeral Home in Wilber, Nebraska. Visitation will be on Friday from 6-8pm at the funeral home.  Kuncl Funeral Home in Wilber is in charge of arrangements.
