Obituary

Duane T. "Rosie" Rosecrans, 83, of Crete, Nebraska passed away peacefully on Friday, September 29, 2017, at home surrounded by family. Born in Odell, Nebraska, on January 1, 1934, he enlisted to serve his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He and his lifelong companion, Ruth Meyers, were married on May 29, 1955 in Beatrice, NE. Duane is survived by his wife, Ruth; daughters and sons-in-law, Pam and Jim Johnson, Lakewood, NY and Cindy and Brad Braunsroth, Denton, NE; son Scott Rosecrans, San Diego, CA; six grandchildren, Trevor, Corey, Brandon, Justin, Erin, Rachel; and eleven great-grandchildren.
Duane worked for the Norris Public Power District for 35 years until his retirement in 1996. He served in the Crete Volunteer Fire Department for over 15 years. He was active in the Crete community and volunteered in many organizations. He was a member of American Legion Post 147, serving as its Commander for many years, a member of the Grace United Methodist Church for over 50 years and a member of the Crete Cemetery Board. In retirement, he and Ruth enjoyed spending their winters in Arizona, and he enjoyed woodworking. Duane loved spending time with family and friends, and most of all, he will be remembered for sharp wit and playful sense of humor. He is preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Nellie Rosecrans; his sisters Peggy and Carlene; and his infant brother Gary. Memorials to the Grace United Methodist Church, Crete NE. Services: Wednesday, October 4th at 10:30 AM, Grace United Methodist Church, 1245 Juniper, Crete. Kuncl Funeral Home in Crete is in charge of arrangements.
