Obituary

Edgar H. Kuhlmann of Crete, formerly of Deshler, passed away on July 4, 2016. He was born on a farm near Byron, Ne. to George and Anna (Kniep) Kuhlmann on July 22, 1920. Edgar was baptized at St. Peter's Lutheran near Byron and confirmed at Zion Lutheran near Deshler .

He attended a country school and received his 8th grade diploma in 1934. He started farming with his father and eventually took over the operation. He lived on this farm for 62 years.

He married Blanche Riesselman on Dec. 28, 1960, at Sacred Heart Church in Crete, Ne. Blanche and Edgar then lived on the Byron farm for 22 years.

Edgar was active in his community. He was a member of St Paul's Lutheran Church (Byron) and Peace Lutheran Church (Deshler), serving on both Parish Councils. He was a member and officer of the Byron Lions Club. He was on the Board of Directors of Norris Public Power for twelve years, eventually serving as president.

Edgar and Blanche retired to Crete, Ne. in 1983. He joined Sacred Heart in 1984. He helped to maintain the church and cemetery grounds for thirteen years. He enjoyed golfing and was an avid Nebraska fan.

Above all, Edgar was a family man. He became a father to Blanche's children, Jack and Kathy. Edgar and Blanche were blessed with the birth of a daughter, Lori. He enjoyed six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Edgar was preceded in death by his dear wife, his parents, a great granddaughter, Faye Epping; two sisters, Elsie Meyer and Marcella Craig, brother, Clarence Kuhlmann and a baby brother born at rest.

He is survived by his children, Lori Rejcha (Doug) of Hallam,Ne., Kathy Blecha (Kirk) of Omaha, and Jack Riesselman (Trish) of Bozeman, Mt. his grandchildren: Tanner and Trevor Rejcha of Hallam, Dr. Paul Blecha (Halle) of Omaha, Mary Epping (Shane) of Columbia, Mo; Dr.Christina Riesselman (Chris Moy) of Dunedin, New Zealand, and Lynne Riesselman (Ryan Henbest) of San Francisco, Ca., his great grandchildren, Colin, Sam, Morgan Blecha and Iris Epping, his sisters; Betty Loontijer of Deshler and Ilene Denzin of St Louis.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 9, 10:30 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Crete.
