Emily J. (Sisel) Stehlik was born on January 8, 1928 to Anton and Tonie (Tesina) Sisel of rural Dwight, NE, the 8th of 10 children. She attended Dwight schools and worked in Lincoln after her graduation from Dwight High School. On April 26, 1949 she was united in marriage with Gerald D. Stehlik of Crete. The couple farmed in the Crete area and had 4 children, Sharon, Michael, Geralyn and Trudy.
Emily was a farm wife and homemaker. She was an avid gardener, canned much of the produce, and raised chickens, ducks and geese to help provide for her family. Emily was a great cook and famous in her family for her rolls, kolaches, duck and dumplings. She valued her Czech heritage, including her love of traditional Czech music, and loved and cared deeply for her family. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Perky 88 Extension Club. Her greatest joys were her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and attending Sisel Family Reunions.
Emily is survived by her children, Sharon (Tim) Clark of Pearland, TX; Mike (Cindy) Stehlik of Crete; Trudy (Bryan) Henderson of Scottsbluff; and son-in-law Lyle Williams of Omaha; grandchildren Carolyn (Tim) Alessi and Adam (Kristie) Canow of Houston, TX; Nicole Stehlik of Castle Rock, CO; Tim (Ashley) Stehlik of Crete; Matthew (Drew Neneman) Stehlik of Omaha; Lucas Williams of Omaha; Jace Henderson and Kyle Henderson of Scottsbluff; great-grandchildren Jackson, Maddox and Cash Stehlik of Crete, Brantley Stehlik-Baxter of Castle Rock and Gianna Alessi of Houston, brother Frank Sisel of Lee's Summit, MO and sister Adeline Cihal of Davey; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Gerald, daughter Geralyn (Gerri) Williams, her twin brother Emil, siblings Emmanuel, Cyril, Joseph, William and Anton Sisel, and Lillian Soukup.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the family for future designation. Services are: Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m., Thursday July 21, Sacred Heart Church, Crete; casual attire. Rosary: 7 p.m. Wednesday, Kuncl Funeral Home, Crete. Visitation beginning Wednesday at 5 p.m., Kuncl Funeral Home. Interment: Riverside Cemetery, Crete.
