It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gena Marvin. She left us on March 7, 2025. Beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, mentor and friend.  Born August 1, 1951, in Hastings, Nebraska to Tedi Edmondson (Life), and Archie Edmondson. Gena graduated from Hastings High School in 1969 and attended Mary Lanning School of nursing. After graduation she worked at hospitals in Greeley, Colorado and Kearney, Nebraska where she met the love of her life, Dave. They were married in 1976 and moved to Crete, Nebraska where they started their family. Gena spent her life caring for others through her work as an RN at Crete Hospital and as a School nurse at Crete Elementary and also worked at Garden Square. She impacted many lives through her volunteer work in Teammates, Casa, as well as serving as a Hospice nurse. Gena's life was guided by her faith. She worshiped at UCC church where she served as a deacon. Gena's passion was caring for others and finding joy in everything she did.  She is survived by her husband Dave, her daughters Kim Marvin and Jen Steinheider, son-in-law Chris and granddaughter Eloise. She is also survived by her sister and brother-in-law Sue and Dave Prochaska, her brother and sister-in law Tony and Cathy Edmondson, brother-in-law and wife Rob and Sara Marvin, her aunt Jan, many nieces and nephews and many close friends, and her beloved dog Auggie. She is now at peace, reunited with her mother and cherished sister, Donelle. She was our Pollyanna, and our sunshine on a cloudy day. In remembrance of Gena, the family invites loved ones and friends to attend a celebration of her life on Thursday, May 1, 2025, at 11:00 AM at First Congregational UCC Church in Crete, with a reception immediately following at 9th Street Bar and Grill. We encourage everyone to wear something yellow in honor of Gena.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Kuncl Funeral Home in Crete.
