Obituary

Gene Tyser was born in Crete, Nebraska on September 29, 1955, to Joseph and Verla Tyser. He passed away at the age of 67 years old on March 6, 2023.

He graduated from Tri County High School in 1973 and then received his degree in Tool and Die from Southeast Community College in Milford, Nebraska.

He married the love of his life, Sherry (Mangus), in 1975 and they traveled the United States, settling outside of Wilber in 1980. They were blessed with two beautiful daughters, Ashley (Clark) and Allison (Brahm). Gene never missed a dance recital, trap shoot, or sporting event, even when traveling internationally. He always enjoyed teaching, building, and exploring with his four grandchildren.

Made in America. Gene was a man of purpose and drive. He was deeply patriotic deriving great pride from the service of his friends, father, and Son-in-Laws Jordan and Tim. He was passionate about business, building, and the American Way of Life.

He worked for 32 Years at American Tool in Dewitt, culminating as the Director of Engineering. With many patents in his name, Gene was committed to quality and taking care of his people. Gene's love of Dewitt and Vise-Grip fueled a passion project. Partnering with Malco he saw the return of locking plier being made once again in Dewitt.

Gene had a deep love for the outdoors and a passion for hunting, with a dream trip of an African Safari with his father Joseph Tyser in 1998. Gene could often be found sitting in a deer stand or walking a field with one of his Vizslas. His love of Vizslas led the family to raising multiple litters of puppies. He was proud to have passed on his love of the outdoors and shooting to his daughters.

After leaving American Tool, Gene took up farming with his father and son-in-law. Taking his grandkids for a ride during harvest and restoring tractors are memories that will not be forgotten. A restoring highlight was the '63 Dodge with his son-in-law, Tim. Forever the builder, he began forging, leading to the creation of some beautiful hunting knives.

For his final business endeavor, he successfully ran Grumpy Grandpa's daycare and was only put in timeout a few times.

He is preceded in death by his father Joseph and mother Verla. He is survived by his Wife Sherry, two Daughters Ashley (Jordan) Clark, and Allison (Tim) Brahm. Four grandchildren Abigail (14), Jameson (10), Harper (8), and Callen (4). Brother Joel (Madonna) Tyser, several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Gene was often quoted that he led a full life, doing everything he wanted to do.
