Gwen L. (Fictum) Buntgen, Lincoln, formerly of Wilber, died suddenly April 30, 2016 in St. Elizabeth Community Health Center, Lincoln, at the age of 49 years.

She was born Feb. 21, 1967 in Omaha and became the daughter of Ramon and Carol Fictum of Wilber. She grew up in Wilber, graduating from Wilber-Clatonia High School in 1985.

During her high school years, she enjoyed music, singing in choir and playing saxophone in band at W-C, competing in numerous Czech Days talent contests. She was a Saline County Pork Producers Princess, Wilber Czech Princess and Wilber Czech Queen.

On Sept. 16, 1995, she married Wayne Buntgen at Grace United Methodist Church in Crete The couple had two children, Tyler and Rachel. The family survived Rachel's two bouts with leukemia and another bout with epilepsy.

She enjoyed fishing, music and making bracelets for friends and family.

Survivors include husband, Wayne, son, Tyler, and daughter Rachel, all of Lincoln; parents, Ramon and Carol Fictum, Wilber; brother, Bruce (BJ) Fictum, Wilber; cousins, Douglas of Crete and Daniel of Astoria, N.Y.

Memorial services are at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at Wilber United Methodist Church with Kuncl Funeral Home, Wilber, in charge. Pastor Lila Bottolfson officiating. Cremation with distribution of cremains at a later date.
