Harold Essman passed away on March 10, 2016 at the age of 92. He was born on the family farm N.W. of Plymouth Nebraska to William and Amelia (Brolhorst) Essman on November 11, 1923. He was baptized and confirmed Lutheran. He married Alma Vitosh from Odell, Ne on Aug 20th, 1946 and three children were born.

Harold grew up on the farm and started his married life farming. In 1956 he moved to Lincoln, Ne and started his career in the wholesale meat industry where he worked until retirement.

In retirement the farm boy in him prevailed and he started working on old tractors and farmed a large garden. He loved when the family got together so he could get them all out to drive them. He loved his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and passed on that love of farm, garden and tractors.

Survivors include his 3 children, Jim (Jeanene) Essman of DeWitt, Jana Rae Nicholson of Wilber, Pam (Paul) Zajicek of Clatonia; grandchildren, Nathan (Leanne) Essman, Austin (Sondra) Nicholson, Heather (David) Leader, Justin (Sarah) Zajicek, Leah (Johnathan) Hladick, Aaron Zajicek, Jenna (Richard) Lierman, Kacey Zajicek, Garrett Zajicek; great grandchildren, Drew, Noah, Carter, Sam, Kyler, Ryan, Madelynn, Nick, and Jake.

He is preceded in death by parents, wife, Alma; son-in-law, Greg Nicholson; grandson, Cody Essman, 3 brothers & 3 sisters.
Funeral Service: 10:30 AM Monday, 3/14/16 at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Clatonia. Family Prayer Service at 10:00 AM prior to the service at the church. Visitation with family greeting friends will be 6-8 PM, Sunday at Kuncl Funeral Home, Wilber. Interment will be at Oak Grove Cemetery, DeWitt. Condolences at kunclfh.com.
