Hazel M. Meyers, age 79 of Wilber passed away June 11, 2017 at her home surrounded by family. She was born in Red Cloud, Nebraska on February 23, 1938 to Keller and Ethel (Carlton) Barnes.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, playing bingo and Yahtzee, trying her luck at casinos and reading books by her favorite author, Cassie Edwards.
Hazel is preceded in death by her parents, husband; Don Meyers, sisters; Doramay Meline, Ruth Oliver and Virginia Merryman, brothers; Charles, Floyd, Gene, James and Junior Barnes.
Surviving her are her sons; Charles Nelson (special friend Linda Cox) of Hastings, Donald Nelson of Powell, Brian Nelson (special friend Cheri Broome) of Wilber, daughters; Arliene (George) Griel of Superior, Connie (Donovan) Fox of Fairbury, Billie (Edward ) Filipi of Wilber, brother; Clifford (Glennys) Barnes of Burr Oak, Kansas, grandchildren; Jami (Jon) Bruning and Craten McKee of Superior, Brooke (Allen) Hormandl of Wilber, Erin (Scott) Zimmerman of Omaha, Caleb and E.J. Filipi of Wilber , Danni McKnight of Dorchester, Berkley Broome of Wilber, Brian, Derrick and Christina Cox of Hastings, Great grandchildren; Keynen Hansen and Xavier Zimmerman of Omaha, Tristan Sholty and Austinn Elledge of Superior, Bree, Gavyn and Dru Hormandl of Wilber and great great grandson; Gracin Hiatt of Superior, many nieces and nephews.
Graveside service are Saturday, 10:30 AM, June 17, 2017 at Wilber Czech Cemetery in Wilber, Nebraska. Family requests casual attire and in honor of Hazel wear red, her favorite color.
