Irma L. Vacek, passed away peacefully in the presence of her family on June 15, 2019 at the Monarch in Lincoln. Irma, formerly of Wilber, NE, was born on October 16, 1928 to Joseph and Emma Homolka. In 1944, Irma met Lumir Vacek who in 1946 became her husband of 71 years. In later years, although a busy farm wife, Irma discovered a passion for cake decorating and kolache baking. After retirement, Irma enjoyed exhibiting at the Saline County Fair. Irma is survived by her daughter: Janice (Ron) Smetter of Lincoln, son: Alvin Vacek of Lincoln, grandsons: Eric (Rebecca) Vacek of Lincoln, Joshua (Emily) Vacek of Hebron, granddaughter: Angel (Chad) Eddy of Emery, South Dakota, grandson: Sean (Shanda) Smetter of Lincoln, granddaughter: Shana (David) Blakeman of Elizabethtown, Kentucky, great grandchildren: Emma and Delaney Vacek of Lincoln, Hutchinson and Heston Vacek of Hebron, Kelsey, Kristin, and Katelyn Kotas of Emery, South Dakota, Ashley Smetter of Lincoln, Austin, Taylor, and Ashlyn Blakeman of Elizabethtown, Kentucky, step great grandsons: Jacob, Jevin, and Jaden Eddy of Emery, South Dakota. She was preceded in death by her husband: Lumir, parents: Joseph and Emma Homolka, sisters: Agnes Vacek, Elsie Chalupa, Emma Vesely, Bessie Homolka Zoubek, brothers: Lewie Homolka, Emil Homolka, Frank Homolka, and Joe Homolka, and daughter in law: Linda Vacek. Services: Wednesday, 2:00 PM, Kuncl Funeral Home, Wilber. Visitation: Tuesday, 6-8 PM, funeral home. Memorials are in care of the family for future designation.
