Ivene M. Birkett, 102, of Wilber, NE, passed away January 8, 2019. She was born on July 29, 1916 in Lincoln to Louis and Mildred (Chaloupka) Badousek. She graduated from Lincoln High School and later married Jack Birkett on November 27, 1940. They lived on the family farm near Wilber. Ivene worked alongside Jack on the farm and enjoyed planting a big garden. She loved her flowers. She grew peonies, iris, roses and many others, some of which are still around today. Ivene was an excellent seamstress and cook. She loved baking cakes, and made many wedding and anniversary cakes over the years. She was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Wilber, the Big Blue Extension Club, and long-time member and past President of the Sokols in Wilber. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband: Jack, brother and sister in law: John and Ruth Badousek, sister and brother in law: Virginia and Bob Mankin. Ivene is survived by her children and spouses: John and Mary Ann Birkett, Diane and Bill Quinn. Grandchildren and spouses: Randy and Cheri Birkett, Russell and Sara Birkett, Ryan and Stacey Birkett, Tonya Quinn, Christina Quinn and Dave Gardner. 8 great grandchildren. 1 great great grandson. Mass of Christian Burial: 10 AM, Monday, January 14, 2019 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Wilber, NE. Visitation at Kuncl Funeral Home, Wilber, beginning Sunday 4 PM with Rosary at 6:30 PM. Memorials to the church or Wilber Sokols. Kuncl Funeral Home in Wilber is in charge of arrangements.
