Jean Maxine Raines Hammond left this life on December 15, 2023. She was anxious to meet up with her husband Ed who died the day after Christmas 16 years ago to celebrate Christmas in heaven.

Jean was active in many organizations including Eastern Star, American Legion Auxiliary and the Methodist women's group. Jean was a bridge player, often belonging to 3 clubs a month. She enjoyed entertaining the bridge clubs. She was a homemaker who took care of her three kids through their high school careers. She and Ed often traveled to places that were available by bus. They also got to see many professional baseball games.

She is survived by daughter, Linda Dageforde and her husband Roger; son, Roger Hammond and his wife Paula; and son Thomas Hammond and wife Pam. She is also survived by grandchildren Stacey Messman, Jill Shidler, Leslie Mann (Keith), TJ Hammond (Jenni), Nichole Felber (Todd), Heather Avina (Manny), and Neil Hammond (Sarah). 22 great grandchildren. 2 great great grandchildren.  Sisters:  Verna Schultz, Gerry Johnson and Judy Bespalec. Nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ed and granddaughter Amy Schmitt.

Services will be held on Friday, December 22, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Grace United Methodist Church in Crete.  In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the church.  Arrangements entrusted to Kuncl Funeral Home in Crete.
