Jerome C
Moore
July 17, 1943 – May 21, 2025
Jerome "Jerry" Claude Moore was born July 17th, 1943, in Des Moines, IA to Howard and Alice (Evenson) Moore. He attended school in Mapleton, IA, graduating from Mapleton High School in 1961. After graduation, Jerry joined the Iowa National Guard serving until March 1968. He also attended photography school and spent several years working for Markey Studio while rising up through the ranks in the photography industry.
Jerry was united in marriage to Patricia Sasges on April 18th, 1964, in Mapleton, IA. They moved to Sheldon, IA where Becky was born in 1965; then to Sioux City, IA where Alan was born in 1967 and Brent was born in 1970. They then moved to Westminster, CO settling shortly thereafter in Colorado Springs, CO. Jerry became a car salesman, working his way up to management with Daniels Chevrolet and then Academy Ford. He earned many awards, recognitions and trips as one of the best sales managers in the business. Jerry and Pat called Colorado Springs home until 1979 when they moved to Crete, NE. Jerry worked at Mac's Chevrolet and Ahlschwede Ford before reenlisting in 1981, this time in the Nebraska National Guard. He served as a recruiter then as a Staff Sergeant E7 first at the Crete armory and then the Nebraska City armory in 1990. After living in Nebraska City for seven years, they moved back to Crete to be near their children and grandchildren. Jerry retired from the Nebraska National Guard in 2000.
Jerry was a proud man who accomplished many things throughout his lifetime. He was especially proud of his family and took joy in supporting his children, grandchildren and most recently great-grandchildren in their sports careers. While living in CO, the family spent much time in the mountains camping, 4x4 jeeping and motorcycle trail riding. When they moved to NE, the family enjoyed camping and boating. His family knew him to always be the first to try out the new toys his children received as gifts, especially motorized or remote cars and helicopters. Unfortunately, more than once this led to the demise of said toys while on their maiden voyages. Jerry had a big smile, quick wit and whatever he chose to do in life he rose to be the best at it, usually at a management level.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 61 years Patricia Moore (Sasges), his children Becky Kalkwarf and husband Mike, Alan and wife Dede, Brent and wife Stacy.
He is also survived by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Kyle Kalkwarf and wife Heather, Kasen and Brayden; Michala Galusha and husband Jake, Emersyn, Everly and Jett; Corey Kalkwarf and wife Carey, Joey and Jude; Carissa Moore, Camry Moore and Austin Severson; Logan Moore and Megan Christensen; Layton Moore and Bryer Shaw.
Additionally, he is survived by his brother James (Jim) Moore and wife Judy; and sister Frances Ann Hanson and husband Wendell; many loving nieces and nephews and their families.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents Howard and Alice (Evenson) Moore; brother Roland and his wife Beverly; brother Roger; sister Roberta Conyers; and nephews Denny Moore and Scott Moore.
