Jerry J. Shandera "Smiley", age 65, of Crete, NE, passed away on July 8, 2023 in Crete.  He was born on April 4, 1958 in Crete to Leonard and Elaine (Rahe) Shandera.  Most of his time was spent fishing, hunting and gardening.  He enjoyed watching sports, parades and treasure hunting, but most of all spending time with friends and family.  He was preceded in death by his parents.  Survivors include his son:  Jeremy (Tamara) Blankenship and grandchildren:  Nicole, Emily, Anthony and Jenna of Templeton, IA.  Brother:  Doug Shandera of Friend, NE.  Sisters:  Cheryln (Sam) Sarringar of Crete, Lynnette (Curt) Schliefert of St. Joseph, MO, Renee (Matt) Roesler of Wilber.  Many nieces and nephews.  Services are Friday, July 14, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Kuncl Funeral Home in Crete.  Casual attired is requested.  Visitation is on Thursday from 5 - 7 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be at Lincoln Memorial Park Cemetery.  We will be gathering at the Crete Eagles Club for beverages following the burial.  Arrangements entrusted to Kuncl Funeral Home in Crete.
