Joan M. (Daugherty) Kappers, age 71 of Clatonia, NE passed away March 6, 2024 at the Wilber Care Center, surround by family. Joan suffered from the effects of COPD for several years. Joan was born March 12,1952 in Yankton, SD to Gail and Phillis Daugherty.  Joan spent the majority of her work life working as a CNA in many nursing home facilities, the last being the Wilber Care Center.  Joan enjoyed many hobbies outside of work. She loved embroidering, crocheting, scratching scratch tickets, but mostly spending time with her family. She enjoyed her many years of taking care of others in their time of need.

Joan is survived by her husband Bruce Kappers of Clatonia, NE, Daughter Teresa (David) Duensing of Clatonia, NE, son Jason (Christa) Bayliss of Friend, NE. Brothers: Jack (Jan) Daugherty of Hyannis, NE Chuck (Deb) Daugherty of Lyons, NE, Roger (Rhonda) Daugherty of Kearney, NE Rodney (Betty) Daugherty of Valentine,  Darrel (Lisa) Daugherty of Atkinson, NE, Greg (Deb) Daugherty of Crookston, NE Tim Daugherty of Kearney, NE, Steve Daugherty and Fred Daugherty of Valentine, Ne, twin sister Jean (Kenny) Daugherty of Martin, SD. 2 brother in laws Harold(Twila) Kappers of Edison, Ne, Tim (Patty) Kappers of San Antonio, TX, one sister in law Linda Kappers of Kerrville, TX. She is also survived by 5 Grandchildren, Johnna (Jeremy) Bayliss Lyon, KS, Kasandra Schellhorn Lincoln, Ne, Jesse Hampton of Lyons, Ks, Cody Bayliss of St. Paul, MN, and Justin Bayliss of Milford, NE, 6 Great Grandchildren Kaden Hammond, Jace Hammond, Tracen Bayliss, Kiryn Schellhorn, KynLeigh Schulte, Hadlee Lane, and 36 nieces and nephews.  Proceeded in Death by parents Gail & Phillis Daugherty, 2 sisters Sandy and Michelle, and 3 brothers Ronnie, Kevin, Keith.

Celebration of life will be April 13, 2024 at the Clatonia Community Center SW 100th Rd, Clatonia, NE at 11:00 a.m. Please come join us for great memories and some yummy food.
