Jodene W. (Geist) Schwisow passed away on Monday, October 10, 2016 in Arizona. The only child of Jacob and Hazel Geist, she was born in Scottsbluff, Nebraska on September 12, 1942.
Jodi was a nurse for 20 years at the Grand Island Veterans Hospital and Wedgewood Nursing Home. She also worked at the Lincoln Veterans Hospital for a period of time. She was a devoted and passionate nurse who cared for many patients and family members throughout the years. She was an avid traveler, devout friend, loving wife, mother and grandmother as well as an ardent animal lover.
She leaves behind her husband of 19 years, Eugene Schwisow of Western, Nebraska; three children, Greg Housewirth of Fort Worth, Texas, Scott Housewirth of Memphis, Tennesse, and Mary Housewirth Norman of Lubbock, Texas; two step children, Brad Schwisow of Western, Nebraska, Brant Schwisow of Tobias, Nebraska; as well as 8 grandchildren, two cats and one dog.
Jodi loved karaoke and taught her children to always help others and to always laugh. She is now free and following the path that God laid for her. She will be terribly missed as a wife, mother, grandmother, nurse, and capricious friend. Her traditional rendition of Harper Valley PTA will forever be memorialized during family Christmases.
A Celebration of Jodi's life will be held Thursday, October 20th at 11:00 AM at Kuncl Funeral Home, Wilber, NE. Cremation, No viewing. Memorials care of the family for future designation. Condolences may be left at kunclfh.com.
