Obituary

John A Prochazka, son of John and Libbie (Turek) Prochazka was born June 13, 1943 in Lincoln, NE and died Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at his home. He grew up in Wilber, NE and graduated from Wilber High School before joining the Army. After the Army, John started college at Fairbury Community College, then finished his degree at University of Missouri in Columbia. After graduation, he worked for the US Forest Service.
John was united in marriage with Diana Parish on January 8, 1972 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Lincoln, Nebraska. He was stationed in Missouri with the US Forest Service from 1972 to 1980 where they had three children. The family was then transferred to Chadron, Nebraska where they lived for 19 years, before John retired and the couple returned back to his home town of Wilber.
Since retirement, John has volunteered with the American Legion Post 101 and was on the board for the Wilber Czech Village. One of his favorite activities was taking care of all the campers at Legion Park in Wilber.
Grateful for having shared his life are his wife Diana Prochazka, brother Roger Prochazka, three children, Shelly Broderick and her husband Rich, Rapid City, SD, Tammy Knapke and her husband Jamie, Aurora, CO, and Steve Prochazka and his wife Elizabeth, Erie, CO; 7 grandchildren, Bailey Broderick, Jordan Knapke, Kyla Knapke, Blake Broderick, Aiden Knapke, Dayton Prochazka, and Luca Prochazka and a host of other relatives and friends.
John was preceded in death by his parents and brother Douglas Prochazka.
Mass of Christian Burial: 2:00 PM Friday, June 9 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Wilber, NE. Visitation: Thursday, 5 – 7 PM with Rosary at 7 PM, all at church. Kuncl Funeral Home in Crete in charge of arrangements.
