Obituary

Joseph "Joe" Rush Duba passed away on November 1, 2022. Joe was born on January 29, 1993 in Seward, Nebraska to Douglas R. and Angela J. (Griess) Duba. He grew up on their family farm with his siblings just Northwest of Wilber, NE. Joe attended school at Wilber-Clatonia where he graduated in 2011 and excelled in both sports and academics. During his time at WCHS, Joe was President of FFA, member of the band and One Act, and played on many sports teams, most notably as a member of the Wolverine Football team. However, Joe's proudest moment during those years were at home, learning how to farm, raising bucket calves, and building his 1979 Chevrolet Camaro with his dad.

Very musically talented, Joe played the drums, guitar, and piano. With his brother and friends, they started a band in their parents' basement. They played for many talent shows, parties, parades, and his favorite was playing at Knickerbockers in Lincoln. Everyone would always ask when the band was getting back together.

Joe went on to college at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where he studied Agronomy as an Engler Scholar and graduated in 2015. After graduation, Joe went to work on the family farm with his dad, mom, and brother, Chris. On October 15, 2016, Joe was married to the love of his life Tessa (Tichy) at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Wilber, NE and to this union a child will be born in early 2023.

During Czech Days, Joe enjoyed playing drums as member of the Alumni Band and was also a member of Sokol Hall. Joe was loved by many friends and will be truly missed by his buddies.

With a kind soul and a heart of gold, Joe's smile could light up any room he was in. He could talk to anyone and would always rather knock on your door than pick up the phone. Joe could fix anything he touched and was happiest working on the farm. A perfect day "off" was spent riding with Tessa on the farm and turning a workday into fun, always busting out a dance move or two.

A loving husband, son, brother, uncle, friend, and soon to be father, Joe left a legacy that will never be forgotten. Joe is survived by his wife, Tessa and their son, parents Douglas and Angela, grandparents Marge and Ron Griess, siblings Cassondra (Dan) Goff, Mollie (Greg) Robertson, Christopher (Jordan Schneider) Duba, nieces and nephews Emma, Cayden, and Grant Goff; Knox, Rhett, Clara, and Grace Robertson; Myla and Bennett Duba, and Brantley Fisbeck.

Many more friends and relatives will also be left with his memory as Joe is reunited with his grandparents, Joe and Sylvia Duba.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 9, 2022 from 5 to 8 pm at Kuncl Funeral Home in Wilber, NE.
